Heavenly Sonshine

He likes the Pleasant Goat little people we bought for him on Jin Li street. Pleasant Goat is a cartoon that the Chinese children love. Our guide was so surprised that I knew anything about it at all. She asked me "how you know this?" I told her I'm in several on-line adoption communities and somehow that was a topic one day. She smiled in amazement at how much information is shared on-line.

The cutest little boy in China! His eyes are like chocolate drops and his lips oh, so pouty and his cheeks just kissable! :)

Night night, Yang Yang. May your dreams be sweet and full of sunshine! All tuckered out after a day of big changes and so many new things.

I simply cannot pull myself away from this perfect gift from heaven. The LORD has given me the desire of my heart and He has made me glad! Yes, He has made me glad! :) Because when you find yourself completely overcome with joy, when your heart can only sing praises to the Father for answered prayers, when all of life suddenly makes perfect sense and you see the paths so clearly that were once cast in hopeless shadow, when God Himself reaches down from heaven and embraces you with His love, there is nothing to do but stand in the heavenly sunshine, face and hands lifted up to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, and soak in the beauty and warmth of the Father. We have known our son for less than 24 hours, and all of it, the tears, the tantrums, the playtime, the naptime, the bottle time - all of it has been a gift!

How to describe this gift? So far he is very quiet, very obedient, timid and scared. But oh so precious! He is very gentle and when he smiles he ducks his head down toward his little tummy in the cutest little way as if to say.... oh, oh, I'm so shy...so shy. hee. He is quick to respond to our love and when I ask him "Mama bao?" he grins stands up and comes right to me. He longs to be held and cuddled. He is smart and we have loved watching him play with the toys. He likes stacking the cups, unstacking them, turning them over and filling them and then dumping them out. Daddy has been playing a little game with him - he hides a Gerber Puff under each cup as he stacks up the tower and then taps his finger on the top cup which means "okay, find the treats." Mason mimmicks his Daddy and taps his little finger on the top cup first. so cute! He watches us closes but is so shy and when we try to look in his eyes he grins and ducks his head again. He sleeps like an angel. We follow the schedule the orphanage gave us and laid him in his crib for naptime - he slept so good! At night he goes in his crib even still awake and doesn't make a peep, I give him too many kisses to count and tell him "Mama ai ni. Mamma ai ni Yang Yang." He grins and reaches out for his panda bear (the one we sent to him on his birthday). He hugs it close and within minutes he is fast asleep. He is already clinging to Mama and feels safe when he is in my arms. He likes Gerber Puffs, Cheerios, Smarties, noodles (he slurps them up and it is so funny!), congee for breakfast, poached egg, potatoes, and soft bread. He doesn't chew very well yet. He mostly swallows things whole. So we cut them up in tiny pieces. He wasn't too sure about the watermelon and definitely not a fan of fruit juices, although he is tolerating them while crinkling up his little nose and acting like he is sucking on a lemon wedge. lol! He likes to look through the flashcards I made for him and point to the pictures. He likes the ones with Mama and Baba the most and then Jessa next. :) I think he notices that she looks like him. I love that for both of them! He is so quiet and hasn't said a single word. He is very withdrawn in public and sad. Each time we get in the van to ride somewhere he begins to cry because I think he thinks we are taking him back or giving him to someone else. And although our hearts break each time he cries, it is a great sign of early attaching that he willingly wants to stay with us and be held by us. So blessed that he is allowing us to comfort him too. "Bao bei" "Mama bao" "Boo coo" and "Gui Gui" are all working to calm his anxiousness. For that we are so thankful!
