Forever Ours

It's official - George Mason Yang is our son! This afternoon we met at the civil affairs office to officially register the adoption and finalize the paperwork. We were surprised to find that three families from Spain are also in Chengdu adopting their children. It was so fun to meet them and practice our Spanish skills. Their children are adorable and we've spoken with the one family every morning at breakfast as they are also staying in our same hotel. Their son's name is Marco and he is 4 years old. David told them our son's name in Spanish - Jorge. lol! :) I'm sure Mason is utterly confused with us attempting to speak Chinese, attempting to speak Spanish, and teaching him English. He will probably be multi-lingual!

He didn't enjoy his foot being stamped. He cried especially when Susie was trying to clean off the red ink with a wipe. But when Mama took over and finished cleaning him up, it was suddenly all good. :) I think he likes me. :) After his foot was stamped, we spoke with the lady from the orphanage in charge of the adoption paperwork. David expressed our thanks for nurturing the children and told her how thankful we were that Liu Fa Yang was our son. He let her know that it was very clear that his orphanage cared about the children and the families coming to adopt them by the precious keepsakes they gave us. She had tears in her eyes and asked us to please come back when he is older and visit the orphanage so that they can see him again. She welcomed us back anytime. :)

We ate pizza for dinner and he had noodles. He likes the noodles a lot! When he was tired, I layed him down awake in his crib. As soon as he sees his panda bear, he cuddles him close. He slept through the night again and is still able to enjoy playing in the room. Sometime during the early morning hours I heard a soft noise. When I checked on him, I noticed he was sucking his little thumb and rubbing his fingers on his shirt. Adorable! He only does it at night and not when he first goes to sleep either. Usually by the morning, he has his thumb in his mouth. :)

David and I are thankful that he sleeps so well because it is so much better to explore China when you've had a decent night's sleep. :) Tomorrow we are going to the Panda Research Center. It has been hot and sunny here a few afternoon thunderstorms but overall excellent weather. We are blessed! This is a great city with lots to offer families who are visiting. We will miss it when we leave for Guangzhou on Friday. Today we also met with the Notary in our hotel room. He revealed to us information about our son's finding day. We are still processing all that we've been told and there are some details we will save only for him; however, it is safe to say that the LORD has once again given my child details of his life that most children adopted from orphanages do not receive. As with Jessa's story, there is much to share with her as she grows up and although we will not be able to answer every question, we have answers that we never thought we would have - and that is God's hand over our son and our daughter. Opening the door to Mason's beginnings in only the way He can. We are honored to be chosen to be his parents and so blessed to call him our forever son.
